MY FAULT
[From Nikki Flynn - “Moja wina, moja wina, moja wielka, wielka wina.”
“My fault, my fault, my great, great fault” – Polish prayer]
World’s in tears / World’s in misery
I can’t blow the rainy clouds away
Man’s in pain / Man’s in slavery
I can’t raise my hand to break the chain
It’s my fault, my fault / Why is life so difficult? Oh, it’s all my fault
No one’s peaceful / No one’s hopeful now
I can’t change their ways or calm their minds
‘Cause they've got reasons and they got feelings, so
They can’t hear the cries or sympathize
It’s my fault, my fault / Why is life so difficult? Oh, it’s all my fault
That stops everything I might have said
That takes every hope and crushes it instead
My fault, my fault / Why is life so difficult? Oh, it’s all my fault

LONDON KICKS
(A dance for The Regency)
Drury Lane in the summer rain will always be the same
Chelsea wind and Chelsea air will always blow my hair
London Kicks, London Kicks in a power-time-“A”-rotation
London Kicks, London Kicks so hand me down my medication
Vauxhall Gardens make me sad; the band played “He’s a Rebel”
Thames embankment lotus bands got Fender bass and treble
London Kicks, London Kicks in a power-time-“A”-rotation
London Kicks, London Kicks so hand me down my medication
Those Georgian pillars curlicue like Soho kickers do
I wish that funky Londontown meant the same to you
London Kicks, London Kicks in a power-time-“A”-rotation
London Kicks, London Kicks so hand me down my medication
Things are going to be just like – like they’re gonna be
Look inside: awaken man. Look outside: you dream
London Kicks, London Kicks in a power-time-“A”-rotation
London Kicks, London Kicks so hand me down my medication

THE CONTENDER
Oh, I could have been a contender
Make a living with my two strong hands
Instead of a bum which is what I am
Oh, you were my brother
Watching over me the best you can
But I took a dive right through your hands

TAKE THESE THINGS
[ From a message by Rob Brezsny]
There goes my nightmare from a darkened room
Take away my bitterness blow away the gloom
Take these things away from me
Rob me of what I don’t need
I will walk along with a lightened load
Lose my impatient life burn it in the fire
Put aside my doubts of time let my mind go higher
Take these things away from me
Rob me of what I don’t need
I will walk along with a lightened load
My missing link has made me think I’ve lost my treasure forever now

SPACE IS INFINITE
[Forever turned up to 11]
When I look through the window
I see all the people
I stand on the mountain
I see that space is infinite
A parallel universe
A black hole makes it work
Duplicate in reverse
Going faster going faster going faster

Five Thousand Times

FIVE THOUSAND TIMES
When I went through the gate
I thought, “I’ve been here before”
Same old shoes, same old soul
When I passed through the light
I thought, “I’d better take it slow”
Can’t find up, Can’t let go
I’ve been here five thousand times
Five thousand times to be alive
I’ve been here five thousand times
Five thousand times to be alive
When I let go the cord
When I let go the past
Say, I’m coming on back, Say, I’m coming down fast
Turn away, turn around
In the ground, in the fire
Time to be born, ‘cause I can’t get no higher

Zeus and the Sun

ZEUS AND THE SUN
[Inspired by Immanuel Velikovsky’s “World’s In Collision”]
Zeus turned the course of the Sun one day
He said, “You’re coming from the West”
So, I bought two tickets for the lottery
And asked of Zeus, “Can I bring a guest?”
His anger rose and the trees went slack
In the crimson smoke the Raider game went black
I said, “Hey man, we’re gonna need more ice
I’ve got two meat pizzas on the way tonight”.
I’ve seen the shape that men call death
I changed the channel when he took a step
All mankind cries, “where’s my heaven?”
“I’ve lost the keys, what can I do?”
Like the Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Commercial free on channel 2
Zeus was drunk and huge and wicked
With his pipe and bowl and football jacket
The world went twisting through the fire
The face of Zeus was burning red
The satellite remote seemed tired
And we all stretched out on the bed
The tribes were walking in the desert
With crime and courts and cars they found a home
So I rolled a fat one on the dresser
Four million stars stood all alone
The constellations flecked with foam
North and South both shined like chrome
The heavens order’d come and gone
And we’re both laughing on the phone

ARKANSAS REDWING BLACKBIRD
[Charles Fort, did you hear?]
Oh, the Red Wing Blackbirds fall from the winter sky
The New Year’s Eve in Arkansas was time to stop their flying
Five thousand Red Wing Blackbirds turned their heads and fell, goodbye
The New Year’s came to Arkansas with mystery for the ones who died
Well your wing is red, oh blackbird tell me why
And your mama said, “Your home’s up in the sky”
Blackbird can’t you fly?
